The Vote in Honor of a Vet program encourages students to exercise the franchise and honor the sacrifices members of the United States Armed Forces make to protect Americans’ right to vote. The program’s main goal is to increase voter turnout among young people and provide them with an entry point to the electoral process. Supervisor of Elections staff members share biographies of local veterans with students as part of the program during voter registration drives at area high schools. Students also learn about the history of voting rights and how they can participate in Pinellas County elections.
Since 2005, the Supervisor of Elections office has registered nearly 35,000 high school students to vote, and your participation is an invaluable part of our success. It would be our honor to share your story, or that of a veteran in your life, through the Vote in Honor of a Vet program. Tell us about your service and why you believe it’s important for young people to vote in the form below, or contact the Voter Outreach Department at (727) 464-5700. You can also download the form and return it to [email protected] or to the address below.
